How Long to Climb Ben Rinnes?
At 2,733 feet, this is the highest peak in the Speyside region. While there are several potential starting points, the most popular track to follow is on the east side of the mountain. With an ascent of 548 metres, this popular hill walk is a 7.5 km round trip and takes approximately three hours to complete. Suitable for beginners, there is a clear path to follow to the top - although we recommend you wear appropriate footwear, as you may be required to climb over rocks.
Why Climb Ben Rinnes?
The extensive views at the top are well worth the climb, showcasing much of north-east Scotland. On a clear day, it's possible to see the surrounding countries of Aberdeenshire, Inverness-shire, Morayshire and Nairnshire, and sometimes all the way to the Moray Coast. This is the perfect opportunity to admire the Speyside region in all its glory.
How to get to Ben Rinnes?
The starting point for this walk is a small car park on an unnamed road that branches north from the B909 near Ben Rinnes. The parking area only accommodates half a dozen cars, so it’s best to get here early, especially if you are visiting on a sunny weekend or bank holiday. From the car park, walk through a small gate and follow the track all the way to the summit.
